Refresh and strengthen the language skills to effectively communicate on specific government policy topics.
The language of policy communication
On these programmes, we will explore the specific technical vocabulary that is required to engage in a range of policy areas. You will learn to work with different spoken and written genres and to strengthen your role as a policy expert in the international field.
From the topics of justice and the environment to foreign affairs - depending on your own professional interests - we will practice interpreting reports, creating ministerial briefing notes and preparing political speeches. I also provide the opportunity to prepare discussions for meetings, practice speaking at panel discussions and learn how to effectively write correspondence based around the policy areas you are working with.
Tailored to the specific professional communication needs of the trainees, I provide a training programme that is supplemented by a wealth of material and resources for all kinds of communication across the government
A key area of expertise
Government communication is an area I am particularly interested in. I studied Public Policy and Management in the UK and worked as a Civil Servant at the heart of British policymaking. I am currently working on doctoral research exploring the use of English in government contexts.
