Title: Engineers Communicating and Collaborating Internationally for the Green Transition ECO-GT
Project number 2023-1-PL01-KA220-HED-000165199 Call: 2023 – EAC/A10/2022 Program Erasmus+ KA2 Higher education Start date: 2023-09-01 End date: 2026-08-31 Budget: 400 000,00 EUR Website: www.ecogt.eu |
The ECO-GT project (Engineers Communicating and Collaborating for the Green Transition) was initiated to address a growing gap in engineering education: the lack of structured training in international communication and collaboration for engineers. In the face of climate change and the growing need for interdisciplinary and cross-sector cooperation, engineers in the field of green technology must be equipped not only with technical expertise, but also with the ability to engage stakeholders across research, business, and policymaking communities. This project brings together a consortium of seven universities across Europe.
I conceptualised, authored, and coordinated the proposal that secured €400,000 in Erasmus+ funding, and continue to play a leading role in overall project strategy and content development. As the research lead, I worked with consortium colleagues to design and author a transnational research methodology for focus groups and follow-up interviews with engineers, and produce the reporting templates used for cross-partner data analysis. I was the lead author of the project's research report on communication tasks and communication networks in green transition engineering.

Key Outcomes and Reflections |
This project sets out to achieve the following:
This project exemplifies the strategic role communication education can play in the green transition. By placing international communication skills at the centre of engineering education, this project is empowering students to act more effectively as change agents—not only within their technical domains but also across the societal and policy environments in which they operate. It also demonstrates how collaborative research design and harmonised implementation can deliver structured insights into professional communication practice across Europe.
